Iloilo mayors, police chiefs attend crisis management workshop

Mayors of the 42 towns and one component city in the province of Iloilo as well the town police chiefs gathered at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol conference room today for a seminar-workshop on Crisis Management.

The seminar-workshop was organized by the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) – Iloilo Chapter headed by its president Mayor Ma. Teresa Debuque of Anilao, Iloilo.

Mayor Debuque said the seminar-workshop was convened to equip the local chief executives and the police chiefs of enough knowledge on how to face crisis situations in their locality.

She said the activity was prompted by the bungled rescue attempt on a hostaged bus in Metro Manila last August 23.

Debuque said the failure should serve as a lesson among officials and police chiefs to ensure that the same mistake will not be committed again.

Resource speakers came from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 lead by Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, Regional Director, Senior Supt. Ernesto Tesoro Jr, Deputy Regional Director for Administration, and Supt. Ranulfo Demiar, Regional Public Information Officer.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. also joined the affair later where he congratulated the mayors for organizing the seminar-workshop.

Topics discussed in the seminar-workshop are: crisis management, dynamics of a crime / hostage situation and media relations. (ECGarcia/ Capitol News)
